MINFORD — Mike Price said he always wanted to be a barber, but there wasn’t a shop where he lived in Minford. So Price went to barber school and opened his own — Mike’s Muletown Barber Shop.
Price opened his barber shop in Minford about two and a half months ago.
“After a lack of having a barber shop in the Minford area for such a long period of time, I thought it would be a good thing to start and bring back barbering services to the area,” he said.
This isn’t just the first barber shop that Price has owned, it’s the first barber’s job he’s ever had.
“I had to go to a state-certified barber college and completed my barber training. Then after that I had to go through state accreditation and state licensing for the barber’s license as well as the barber shop. I had to fulfill all of my state requirements for the barbering code licensure,” he said.
With help from fellow barber Lee Sanford, Mike’s Muletown Barber Shop offers full-service male barbering, shaving and shampoo. They offer only limited haircut services for women.
“It’s a good old-fashioned male barber shop. Guys come in and get a straight razor shave and shampoo, the whole thing right here in one location,” Price said.
Business has been steadily growing, he said, and even though they’ve only been open a short time they are already seeing return customers. The shop also sponsors community T-ball and cheerleading activities.
Mike’s Muletown Barber Shop is located on Ohio 335 in Minford. Their hours are Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to noon. Services are also available after hours by special appointment. For more information, find them on Facebook.
