Post 23 dropped to 0-4 in the 2012 Gene Bennett Classic thanks to four errors as the Midwest Pelicans went on to win 8-1 Saturday morning at Branch Rickey Park.

The lone run for Post 23 came in the top of the second when Eli Duduit’s double down the left field line scored Tas Shupert to tie the score at 1-1. It was one of five hits recorded by Post 23 in the loss.

Will Howard dropped to 0-2 on the season despite going the distance. He struck out four, walked one and hit a batter.

Post 23 will try to avoid going winless in the tournament with a noon game at Portsmouth High School’s Hatcher Field against the Springfield Armaloy.
