Penn Station Inc. warned customers this week that 59 locations have been the target of unauthorized access to customers’ credit and debit card information. The Penn Station restaurant in Portsmouth was not one of the affected locations.
According to the corporate office in Milford customer information was breached at 59 of their 235 corporate and franchise restaurants. The nearest affected location was Ashland, Ky. After learning of a potential breach, Penn Station franchisees changed the method of processing credit and debit card transactions.
Federal law enforcement authorities have been contacted and are involved in the investigation.
The company warns anyone who visited one of the affected locations during March and April, and paid with a debit or credit card, should watch for any unauthorized charges.
Neither the owner nor the general manager at Penn Station in Portsmouth could be reached for comment on Thursday. The Portsmouth franchise location opened in January 2008.
A list of the potentially affected restaurants is available at www.penn-station.com.
