Helen Louise White, 92, of Portsmouth, died Sunday, June 3, 2012, at SOMC Hospice. She was born June 18, 1919, in Portsmouth, to the late Theodore Ribble and Bertha Alma Sagraves Ribble.
She was a retired case worker for then Scioto County Welfare Department. She was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church, and attended Christ’s Community Church. She was also an auxiliary member of James Dickey Post 23 American Legion. An avid bowler, she was in the Women’s Hall of Fame in Portsmouth. She liked to travel. An artist, she has paintings hanging in James Dickey Post 23.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Charles (Jack) White Sr., in 1983; and a son, Larry Thomas White.
She is survived by one son, John C. (Carolyn) White Jr. of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; one daughter, Jacolyn B. Scroggins of Portsmouth; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and a special cousin, Patricia J. Robbins of Idaho.
Private graveside services were conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday June 5, 2012, at Edgewood Abbey Mausoleum in Memorial Burial Park officiated by Pastor Frank Tallerico. After the service she was entombed in Edgewood Abbey Mausoleum.
