A Portsmouth man faces multiple charges including weapons charges after being arrested on an indictment issued by the Scioto County Common Pleas Court.

Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini said detectives from the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit with assistance from the Portsmouth Municipal Court Probation Department about 2 p.m. Thursday arrested Melvin McGuire, 52, of 182 Marne Ave., Portsmouth, on a warrant to arrest on indictment issued by the Scioto County Common Pleas Court.

According to Donini, the indictment warrant had been sought after by the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office and the Scioto County Prosecutor’s Office when a case against McGuire had been presented to a Scioto County grand jury.

The indictment against McGuire consists of 10 counts of felony criminal offenses to include having a weapon under disability, carrying a concealed weapon, having a weapon while under detention, possession of drugs, illegal conveyance of weapons onto the grounds of a detention facility, illegal conveyance of dangerous drugs onto the grounds of a detention facility and abduction, all felonies; and assault, a misdemeanor.

Scioto County Sheriff’s Capt. David Hall said the conveyance of weapons and drugs onto the grounds of a detention facility took place at the Scioto County Jail.

McGuire was apprehended by detectives and probation officers at his residence on Marne Avenue. During a search of the residence, detectives and probation officers found suspected Oxycodone.

McGuire was placed in the Scioto County Jail and is being held without bond pending an arraignment in Scioto County Common Pleas Court.

An additional case against McGuire will be forwarded to the Scioto County Prosecutor’s Office to be presented to a Scioto County grand jury for the consideration of a felony drug charge.

Donini said anyone wishing to leave drug information for the Southern Ohio Drug Task Force, can contact the Sheriff’s Office drug line at 740-351-1094, the Portsmouth Police Department drug line at 740-354-DRUG (3784), or email drugs@sciotocountysheriff.com. He said all information will be kept confidential and anonymous.

Maybe the Police/Sheriff Dept's will do the right thing this time and NOT let him snitch or plea bargain his way out of his one.

Why don't you mind your own business? My Dad is NOT a snitch. Don't you have anything better to do than to gossip about people?
