GALLIA COUNTY — An Oak Hill man was arrested this week for allegedly having engaged in sexual intercourse with an underage girl in Gallia County.
According to the Gallia County Sheriff’s Office, the mother of a 12-year-old girl in Gallia County reported the incident to the Oak Hill Police Department on Monday. Within hours, William H. Simmers Jr., 54, of Cambria Furnace Road, Oak Hill, was arrested at his home. The arrest came after an investigation by the Gallia County Sheriff’s Office and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification.
Simmers has been charged with four counts of felony rape and one count of tampering with evidence following an investigation by Gallia County deputies and agents from Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations.
Simmers remains in the Gallia County jail following his indictment Wednesday by a grand jury.
