Div. II District track and field tourney wraps up

Of the local track teams competing in the Division II District track and field tournament at Oak Hill, Portsmouth came away the leader in the clubhouse as the Trojans finished with the third-highest point total on the boys side with 84.

Portsmouth followed Proctorville Fairland which had 109 total points and Gallia Academy which had 89.

After Portsmouth, Northwest’s boys track team was the other local team that finished in the top 10 rankings with 31.50 points at the 10th spot.

Minford’s boys team finished 13th with 17 points and Northwest’s girls team ranked 13th with six points.

Top local finishers included Romaine Mills of Portsmouth who finished fourth in the Boys 110-Meter Hurdles with a time of 16.89 and Portsmouth’s Zaide Whitley who finished second with a time of 11.41 in the Boys 100-Meter Dash.

Portsmouth’s Boys 4x200-Meter Relay team of Darion Robinson, L.J. Adams, Austin Porter and Michael Lawson finished third with a time of 1:35.13 and Northwest’s team of Jordan Gambell, Linus Schnack, Chambers McClay and Dustin Seaman finished fourth with a time of 1:35.82 in the same event.

Zach Kammler of Portsmouth finished third in the Boys 1600-Meter Run with a time of 4:45.00 and Minford’s Tyler Evans finished fifth with a time of 4:51.83 in the same event.

In the Boys 4x100-Meter Relay, Portsmouth’s combination of Mills, Adams, Trevon Lofton and Robinson finished third with a time of 46.01 while Northwest’s team of Carson Seaman, Micah Campbell, Gambell and Dustin Seaman finished fourth with a time of 46.87.

Portsmouth’s Whitley finished first in the boys 400-Meter Dash with a time of 50.68 and teammate Lawson finished third with a time of 53.34.

Northwest’s Carson Seaman finished third in the boys 300-Meter Hurdles with a time of 42.80.

In the boys 800-Meter Run, Portsmouth’s Porter finished second with a time of 2:02.58, Northwest’s Schnack finished fifth with a time of 2:04.40 and Minford’s Michael Skaggs finished seventh with a time of 2:11.98.

Whitley continued to wrack up the high finishes when he placed second in the boys 200-Meter Dash with a time of 23.00.

Minford’s Evans finished seventh in the boys 3200-Meter Run with a time of 11:04.26.

Portsmouth logged another first-place finish in the boys 4x400-Meter Relay. The Trojan team of Lawson, Lofton, Whitley and Porter finished with a time of 3:31.55.

Northwest’s 4x400 combination of McClay, Dustin Seaman, Carson Seaman and Schnack again finished right behind the Trojans with a time of 3:35.81.

Carson Seaman had a sixth-place finish in the boys High Jump, splitting the spot with Justin Mabe of Bidwell.

Minford’s Kendall Dyer had a top 10 finish in the boys Shot Put coming in at eighth place and teammate Corey Canter locked down the 10th spot in the event.
