For the second straight year, the Notre Dame Lady Titans have won a Division IV District Championship.
Notre Dame put together a convincing, 7-1 win over Waterford Saturday afternoon.
“It’s nice to win back-to-back district championships,” Notre Dame coach J.D. McKenzie said.
Notre Dame’s Miranda Pauley had a solid performance from the circle and Katie Stevenson’s 3-for-3 effort helped pace the Lady Titans. Flawless defense kept Waterford’s chances to a minimum.
“Our defense played very well and we had people step up and hit at the right times,” McKenzie said. “Miranda threw a very good game.”
Madi Phillips and Tori Harr had two runs batted in apiece.
Notre Dame advances to play Danville 5 p.m. Thursday at Pickerington High School.

West 4, Sardinia Eastern 3
West came from behind against Sardinia Eastern Saturday afternoon and turned in a 4-3 victory in a Division III Southeast District final.
Down 3-2 in the bottom of the sixth, the Lady Senators tied in at three when Allie Hoggard drove in Kayla Webb with a two-out double off the wall.
McKenzie Irwin then gave West the lead when she doubled to left-center driving in Hoggard to make the score 4-3 West.
Abby Welch, who struck out two batters in the game, then retired the side in order in the top of the seventh to earn the win.
Despite committing two errors, the Lady Senators defense came up big turning two double plays in the contest.
West advances to the Lancaster Regional being held at Lancaster High School and will play either Wednesday or Thursday.

No. 1 Valley defeated No. 3 Zane Trace 4-1 Saturday in a Division III Southeast District Final. The Lady Indians move on to regionals.
Courtney Crabtree drove in the go-ahead run in the bottom of the second to help propel the Lady Indians to the win..
Braiden Dillow struck out eight Zane Trace batters and earned the win.
Valley advances to the Lancaster Regional Tournament and will play either Wednesday or Thursday.

Piketon defeated Oak Hill 4-2 Saturday afternoon to advance to today’s District Final against No. 4 Westfall, who defeated No. 1 Meigs 5-1 Saturday.
