Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini says his department might have solved several thefts in the Wheelersburg area with the arrest of a Wheelersburg man. Arrested was Brandon Means, 26, who was charged with one count of burglary, a second-degree felony; one count of theft, a fifth-degree felony, and one count of misdemeanor theft. Means was held on a $18,500 bond pending an appearance in Portsmouth Municipal Court.
Donini said detectives have been working several thefts in the Wheelersburg area that started May 3 when William’s Furniture reported that somebody had stolen the central air conditioning unit from the side of the business along with other items. Donini also said several people had reported the exhaust or converters had been cut and stolen from vehicles parked in front of their Wheelersburg homes.
Donini said his office received a call on Tuesday of a burglary that occurred in the last week on Old Gallia Pike in Wheelersburg where a tattoo gun and a cell phone were stolen. Detectives along with the Porter Township Community Policing deputy found the suspect vehicle at an apartment complex in Wheelersburg, where the vehicle was impounded and the tattoo gun and cell phone were found in the vehicle, resulting in the arrest of Means.
Donini said more charges could be presented later to a Scioto County grand jury. He said anyone with information regarding the case should contact detective Jodi Conkel at 740-351-1091. Donini said all calls will remain anonymous.
