April 11, 2012 Scioto County Children Services and the Scioto County Family and Children First Council sponsored the first Wear Blue to Work Day to raise awareness that Child Abuse is Preventable. April has long been designated as Ohio’s Child Abuse Awareness Month. With funding provided by the Ohio Children’s Trust Fund 500 blue tee shirts were purchased and distributed throughout the county to agencies, organizations, businesses and individuals by request. Children Services displayed pinwheels out side their offices to raise awareness of the over 200 reported substantiated cases of abuse in Scioto County in 2011. Scioto Children Services printed 4000 tray liners for area fast food restaurants to distribute which highlighted a calendar of 30 activities to do with your child/family. We want to thank the businesses for participating in Wear Blue to Work Day 2012. We appreciate their dedication to the children and families of Scioto County in promoting Child Abuse is Preventable.
Congratulations to Morgan Brothers Jewelers Inc., winners of the office pizza party for sending a picture of their staff in Blue on April 11.
