Mrs. Sharon “Shari” Young-Gilley, 57, of 4717 Harrison, Quincy, died peacefully in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family at 4:43 p.m. Thursday (May 3, 2012) in her home.
Born July 29, 1954, in Quincy, Shari was the daughter of Jess and Mildred McPheeters Young Jr. She married Shannon Gilley on June 19, 2010, in Quincy. He survives.
Shari enjoyed fishing and was a Nascar fan, especially a fan of Dale Earnhardt Sr. An avid softball player, Shari played for many years with the Instant Replay Softball Team. In 2004, following her decision to retire from playing, Instant Replay retired her number 14 in her honor.
Shari was employed as a Realtor and manager for Century 21 for several years before going to Blessing Hospital where she worked in various jobs, and was currently employed as a Pharmacy Technician.
Survivors include her husband, Shannon; her father, Jess Young Jr. of Quincy; two daughters, Tiffany Turner and Angel Voss (David) both of Quincy; a stepson, Aaron Gilley of Columbus, Ohio; a stepdaughter, Amy Jensen (Matt) of Loveland, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Sidney Hamann, Desire Turner, Quenton Lohmeyer, Megan Voss, Tanner Voss, Destiny Voss and Kyley Voss; two step-grandchildren, Tyler Jensen and Ryan Jensen; a sister-in-law, Mary Young of Quincy; two brothers-in-law, Dave Gilley of Portsmouth, Ohio, and Dennis Compton of Minneapolis, Minn.; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins, including Tim Young (Kim), Korey Young and Kristin Brown all of Scottsdale, Ariz.
Shari was preceded in death by her mother, Mildred; and a brother, Thomas Young.
Memorial graveside services will be held Monday morning at 11 a.m. in Greenmount Cemetery by the Rev. Roger Selves.
There is no visitation, but friends are invited to the graveside service. The Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
