Northwest School’s ‘Evening with the Arts,’ to be held May 8

McDERMOTT — The Northwest Local School District will present its 27th annual Evening with the Arts program, Tuesday, May 8, featuring student projects and music performances, an informational meeting and kindergarten registration.

The day-long activities begin with kindergarten registration from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., and again from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Registration is open to any child living in the district who will be 5 years old on, or before, Sept. 30. Terri Pennington will host a Spring Title I meeting at 3:30 p.m., presenting information about new common core, science and social studies revised standards, new physical Education Standards, and new report card formats.

At 4:30 p.m., elementary students’ art and writing projects on display, followed by select vocal and instrumental performances at 5:30 p.m. Also beginning at 5:30 p.m., middle and high school students’ art, writing, industrial arts, and family sciences projects will be on display, and instrumental and vocal performances will be conducted in the high school cafetorium, patio and courtyard.

Following the arts display at 7 p.m., the evening closes with the Northwest Annual Spring Vocal Music Concert in the high school gymnasium.
