Jenny B. Clare Combs, 88, of Portsmouth, died Friday, April 20, 2012, at Hill View Retirement Center. She was born Nov. 17, 1923, in London Ontario, Canada, to the late Henry Bright and Ruby Marshall Bright.
She was former owner-operator of Clare Cleaners in Portsmouth; a member of Second Presbyterian Church; member of American Legion Auxiliary, 8 et 40 Salon; member of Portsmouth Chapter No. 424 Order of Eastern Star; and member of the Red Hat Society.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles William Clare, 1978; a son, James David Clare; and two brothers, George Bright and Jack Bright.
Jenny is survived by her husband, Bill Combs; one son, Charles William (Lucrecia) Clare Jr. of Portsmouth; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one brother, Bill (Nancy) Bright.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, April 23, 2012, at F.C. Daehler Mortuary Company in Portsmouth with the Reverend Stanley Webster officiating. Entombment will be in Edgewood Abbey Mausoleum at Memorial Burial Park. Visitation will be one hour before the service at Daehlers.
