Children from several schools participated in the Annual Children’s Fair on Thursday, April 12, at Shawnee State University’s Rhodes Athletic Center in the Frank and Janis Waller Gymnasium.
Cirque d’ Art, music, games and puppetry entertained 305 children at the fair. The Vern Riffe Developmental Disabilities created an obstacle course and Portsmouth Public Library had a puppet/story session.
The SSU Women’s Basketball team participated and more than 75 students from the Physical Therapy Assistants program helped run Parachutes, Bubble Wrap, Tattoos and Bubbles stations and gave support as tour guides and extra activity station support.
Sodexo and Valley Wholesale Foods donated snacks. Students participated from the Dr. Miller and Genevieve Toombs Children’s Learning Center, Portsmouth City Schools, The South Central Ohio Educational Service Center, The Carousel Center and Developmental Disabilities, State Support Team Region 15, SSU Teacher Education and Scioto County Head Start along with other departments at the university collaborated on the project.
