OU-Proctorville hosting Networking Night
Ohio University Proctorville Center is hosting a Networking Night on Wednesday, April 18, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. All Ohio University Southern students, alumni and local business professionals are invited to a fun, informal gathering at Ohio University Proctorville Center to share networking tips, gain interview skills, and obtain job search advice. There will be free refreshments during the networking social from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. and a career panel from 6:15 to 7 p.m.
The career panel will include: Rob Johnson from WSAZ news, Casey Baker from Huddleston Bolen Law, Massie Boster from City National Bank, Julie Terry from River’s Bend Health Care, and Viviane Khounlavong-Vallance from the Lawrence Economic Development Corporation.

Clay inducts new NHS members
Clay High School held its National Honor Society Inductions on Wednesday, April 11, in the high school cafetorium. Six new members were inducted into Clay’s National Honor Society.
The new members include Alison Castle, daughter of Kevin and Lori Castle of Rosemount; Aleah Clark, daughter of Michael and Nancy Clark of Twin Valley; Jocelyn Hughes, daughter of Jacqui Spergin of Rosemount; Alysia Pack, daughter of Joshua and Kim Pack of Portsmouth; Mariah Tackett, daughter of Fred and Tammy Tackett of Portsmouth; and Breelyn Wells, daughter of Kevin and Candy Wells of Portsmouth. Current NHS members include Kaci Griffith, daughter of Jon and Tammy Griffith of Rosemount; Chase Hiles, son of Vonda and Perry Hiles of Rosemount; Eli Kelley, son of Chris Kelley and Linda Davis of Lucasville; and Karleigh Murnahan, daughter of Ted and Mary Murnahan of Portsmouth.
Members of the chapter are selected based on the criteria of character, leadership, scholarship, and service; and members must have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher to be considered. Members are involved in many activities and service projects throughout the year. The speaker for the afternoon’s induction ceremony was Adam Betten, a teacher and coach in the Clay Local School District. The advisor for the Clay National Honor Society is Janet Deal. The Clay National Honor Society Chapter is sponsored by the New Boston Kiwanis.
West Elementary sets kindergarten registration
Registration for children who will be entering kindergarten at Portsmouth West Elementary next fall will be held at Portsmouth West Elementary, 15332A U.S. 52. Children should register on Wednesday, April 18, between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Children entering kindergarten next August must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 30, 2012.
Parents or guardians must prest the following: copy of the original birth certificate, Social Security card, complete immunization record, insurance or medical card, custodial documentation, if applicable, and proof or residence.
