Frances “Frankie” Schroeder, 93, of West Portsmouth, died Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at Southern Ohio Medical Center. She was born May 25, 1918, in Portsmouth, to the late Henry Mann and Garnet Petry Mann.

She was a secretary and bookkeeper for Fred Brown and Gil Galyean Automobiles; a member of First Christian Church; and the VFW in Cocoa Beach, Fla.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Frederick “Dutch” Schroeder in 1994; one son, William Lee Schroeder; one brother, Richard Mann; one sister, Mary Alice Journey; and one granddaughter, Diane Sue Scott.

She is survived by one daughter, Mary Sue Chaffin of Coles Park; four brothers, Donald Mann of Dayton, Ohio, Dale Mann of McDermott, Daniel Mann of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Albert Mann of Columbus, Ohio; one sister, Elizabeth Horne of Portsmouth; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2012, at F. C. Daehler Mortuary Company in Portsmouth. There will be no visitation.
