The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an apparent murder-suicide. Lawrence County Sheriff Jeff Lawless said his office received a call of a possible shooting about 5:30 p.m. Sunday at 4300 County Road 15, South Point. Upon arrival, deputies said they found Lola J. Holley, 76, and Dalton Holley, 84, in a bedroom, dead of gunshot wounds.

An adult daughter of the couple who lived with them advised authorities the two had been arguing throughout the day. She said she left the residence to run some errands and, upon her return, discovered the couple’s bodies in the bedroom.

Lawless said the investigation shows Dalton Holley had shot Lola Holley, then turned the gun on himself. Lawless said the small-caliber revolver was still clutched in his hand.
