Tommy Ray Nickles, 54, of Dayton, had his life tragically and unexpectedly taken, along with his trusted dog, Rusty, on Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at his home in Dayton, Ohio.
Tom was born April 7, 1957, in Portsmouth, a son of Roberta Maurine Hammond Nickles of Portsmouth, and the late George Joseph “Joe” Nickles.
Tom was a master electrician and the owner of Quality One Electric in Dayton. He was a member of the IBEW and of several other business and professional associations in the Dayton area. He was a 1975 Portsmouth High School and Scioto County Joint Vocational School graduate, and he was of the Apostolic faith.
In addition to his mother, Tom is survived by his wife, Sonia Kelly Irwin Nickles, whom he married December 8, 1990, in Portsmouth; a son, Chase Nickles, at home; two daughters, Jacquelyn (Tony) Shiveley of West Portsmouth, and Alisonn Rae Nickles, at home; two brothers, Randy (Janie) Nickles of McDermott, and Darrell (Christa) Nickles of Plainfield, Ill.; a granddaughter, Elyn Sophia Shiveley; and nieces and nephews, Ryan, Kristin, Andy, Jordan, and Drake Nickles.
In addition to his father, Tom was also preceded in death by a brother, Rodney Joseph Nickles.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 7, 2012, at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Reverend Mike Gifford officiating, and interment in Mt. Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 6 to 8 p.m., and Saturday one hour prior to funeral services.
