Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini has garnered 85.3 percent of the vote by Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #187, made up of full-time certified peace officers employed by the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office, thus receiving that lodge’s endorsement.
On March 18, FOP Lodge #187 held a lodge meeting and members voted to participate in the endorsement process concerning the Scioto County Sheriff’s race for the November 2012 general election.
On April 1, the lodge held a meeting and all three candidates: Donini, New Boston Police Capt. Steve Goins and former Portsmouth Police Chief Charles Horner spoke to the members.
Of the 40 eligible voting members, 34, or 85 percent, cast their votes. Of the 34 voting, Donini received 29 votes, Goins picked up five votes or 14.7 percent of the vote counted. Horner received no votes in the process.
