MOST ROMANTIC DATE

Favorite Poem. By Mary Martin

I do not love you as if you were salt-rose, or topaz

or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off.

I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,

in secret, between shadow and the soul.

I love you as the plant that never blooms

but carries in itself the light of hidden flowers;

thanks to your love a certain solid fragrance,

risen from the earth, lives darkly in my body.

I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where,

I love you simply, without problems or pride:

I love you in this way

because I don’t know any other way of loving

but this, in which there is no I nor you,

so intimate that your hand upon my chest is my hand,

so intimate that when I fall asleep

it is your eyes that close.

MOST ROMANTIC PLACE IN TOWN

Remembering “The One” by Beth Burchett

After having a really bad day at work one evening, I decided to cheer myself up by making somebody else smile. I stopped by a local dollar store and purchased a table cloth, candles and raised petals. I called up a very special somebody and invited them to join me for a bit. We decided to meet at the river on the corner down past the murals. I stopped at the Second St. Dairy Bar to get dinner. He was very surprised when he pulled up. We enjoyed our picnic table candle lit dinner. We walked over and sat on the cement stairs that lead down to the river. We sat there with the calming sound of the river and watched how beautiful the sky looked as it changed colors with the sun set above the river and thru the Carl Perkins bridge. Every once in a while, I stop by the river view landing there in Portsmouth and remember how romantic it was there with my “The One.”

MOST ROMANTIC ANNIVERSARY

Picture Perfect Submit by Konni Reynolds

My grandparents use to own a lake and it is still going. It is called Cliff’s fishing lake. After my husband and I got married I took him over there off season to show him the beauty of this lake. It was a perfect place to sit to talk peacefully, birds singing and the wind wrestling though the trees. This lake is in a country setting. This was the place we made our future plans concerning our destiny. I will not forget that place while we sit hand in hand as a newly married couple with our life ahead of us. The beauty around us made it easy to decide what to do. This place will always hold a special place in our hearts it was the basis of the beginning of our relationship and a childhood memory of running around this lake!

MOST ROMANTIC ENGAGEMENT PROPOSAL

Geeks Proposal by Daniel Van Der Millie

My girlfriend and I like to spend time with our family and friends playing games. One card game came with blank cards where you can create your own personal cards. Recently, My Mom helped me get the family together in a card game so I could use a card I specially created to propose. After playing a couple hands I gave my family “the nod” letting them know I was about to play the special card. Christy had to read the card 3 times before she turned to look at me, saw me on bent knee besides her asking her to be my wife. She said yes and that was the only coherent thing she could say for 20 minutes! Anyone can propose on Valentine’s Day, but I wanted to give her a story to pass down to our kids & grandkids. How this Geek came to be their father/grandfather.
