Leroy Wayne Parker, age 85, passed away on Wednesday, March 7, 2012. He was born in Pike County, Ohio, on Jan. 29, 1927, to the late Arthur and Mollie (Webb) Parker and attended Minford High School. Leroy was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, serving our country during WWII. After his service, he worked as a welder for North American Rockwell, Davis Heliarc, and retired from Ross Laboratories. He was a longtime member of the Church of Christ. Leroy’s family would describe him as a hard worker and a perfectionist in his work, his hobbies, and his personal standards. He had a great love of animals. He loved to joke around, particularly with his children and grandchildren, but he was also well-respected and liked by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Reva (Trimble) Parker; children, Sandra Kay (Caron) Parker, Karen Sue (Robert) Twigg, Douglas Arthur (Chris) Parker, and Terri Lee (Jerry) Clark; grandchildren, Jennifer, Erika, Michael (Jackie), Robert Jr., Robyn (Bobby), David, Doug, Joe (Kelly), Martha (Dan), Janie (Josh), Logan (Nicki), Kristen, Alicia, Jamie, Alyvia, Taylor, Cole, Derek, and Colin; great grandchildren, Chelsea, Jillian, Clara, Landon, Madison, Ryleigh, Guin, RJ, and Olivia; and numerous nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Woodrow “Buss”, Bill, Arthur Jr., and Frank; and sisters, Serena, Faye, Mary, Goldia, and Nellie.
Family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 11, 2012, at the SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Road, Gahanna. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home where family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Minister Don Cooper officiating.
