The Clay Local School Board is accepting applications from residents interested in completing an unexpired board term.
School board member Annie Riffe gave her resignation from the board during its regular meeting last week. Now the board is accepting applications from people who would like to complete Riffe’s unexpired term, which ends in 2014.
Riffe could not be reached for comment.
Applicants can send their resume, along with a brief letter describing their interest, to Clay Local School Treasurer Brandi Dillow, at 44 Clay High St., Portsmouth, OH 45662. To be considered, applicants must be at least 18 years old, and a resident within the Clay School District.
The school board will accept applications until 3 p.m. March 16. Applications will be reviewed and an appointment is expected to come during the next board meeting, March 20.
“The board would like to get someone who is genuinely interested in children and education and don’t come with an axe to grind, so to speak. They just want to work for the betterment of the school district,” Clay Superintendent Anthony Mantell said.
