The Scioto County Auditor’s office is reminding area dog owners that now is the time to pick up dog tags, and in the next week tags will be sold at three locations in the area:

On Jan. 3, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Nile Township Trustee Office at Friendship; Jan. 4 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Porter Township Fire Department in Wheelersburg; and Jan. 5 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Madison Township Fire Department in Minford.

The Scioto County Dog Pound will also be open until 6:30 p.m. the week of Jan. 9-13 for the convenience of purchasing dog tags there.

A spokeswoman for the Auditor’s Office said single tags are $12, while kennel tags are $40, which includes five tags and a kennel license. She said duplicate or extra tags are $1 each.
