The Scioto County Sheriff’s office is looking for two men in an aggravated vehicular assault on two other men during an attempt to steal a trailer from their property.

Deputies are looking for the driver of a ‘90s model black full-size possibly Chevrolet 4 by 4 pickup, and his passenger.

Both are described as being in their 40s — the driver, approximately six feet tall, weighing around 220 pounds, and wearing a pony tail; the passenger, with short or shaved hair, six feet tall, weighing around 180 pounds.

Jesse T. Miller and Justin T. Miller say they scuffled with the would-be thieves Thursday in the early morning hours.

According to the sheriff’s report, they were called to 2094 Dutch Ridge Road in Portsmouth where around 3 a.m. Thursday the two men heard a vehicle in their driveway, looked out and saw two white males in the previously described truck, backed into their property allegedly attempting to steal a 16-foot low-boy trailer.

Both Jesse and Justin Miller ran outside to confront the two subjects and stop them from stealing the trailer.

That’s when one of the subjects climbed into the bed of the truck and the other started for the driver’s seat.

According to Justin Miller, he grabbed one of the men in the bed of the truck and punched him in the head twice, resulting in the suspect being dazed and falling into the bed of the truck.

Justin Miller said while he was scuffling with one subject in the back of the truck, his brother was running to get the driver who was now in the drivers seat and starting to flee the area.

According to Justin Miller, as his brother Jesse ran in front of the truck the driver did strike him with the front of the truck, knocking him to the ground, then ran over his right lower leg with the left rear tire.

Justin Miller said he jumped onto the side of the truck and reached through the open window and held onto the inside of the door as the driver continued to flee the area.

Justin Miller said he punched the driver in his face approximately four times before the driver was able to shake him from the truck about 200 yards from his brother’s residence as he (the driver) fled from the area.

The two suspects fled the area heading in the direction of Swauger Valley and Woods Ridge.

Both Justin and Jesse Miller were treated at Southern Ohio Medical Center.
