Thelma Lucille Russell Blevins, 89, of Rubyville, died Tuesday, December 20, 2011, at SOMC Hospice. Born April 12, 1922, in Winchester, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Aaron Harrison and Kathryn Hood Russell. She was a graduate of Ohio University, was a school teacher at Clay Local Schools with 41 years of service, and attended Rubyville Community Church.
She is survived by one son, Mike Blevins; a brother-in-law, Cecil Blevins; two sisters-in-law, Irene Blevins, Marguerite Russell; many nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; two special friends, Mary Carolyn Smith, Janet Leach; and her canine companion, Keri.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Claude Blevins on April 9, 1988, whom she married in 1944; four brothers, Taylor Russell, Edgar Russell, Elmer “Tug” Russell, John Wilgus Russell; and three sisters, Nettie Marcum, Mary Bess Humble and Lindsay Russell in infancy.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 23, 2011, at Rubyville Community Church in Rubyville with Pastors Calvin Ray Evans and Brian Baer officiating. Burial will be in Long Run Cemetery. Friends may call at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.
