Host Ashland (Ky.) Paul Blazer connected on four of its eight 3-pointers in the third quarter en route to a 28-point quarter and a 65-42 win over Wheelersburg Monday in a girls non-league basketball game.
Erica Schmidt led the Pirates with 21 points in the loss. Wheelersburg returns home Dec. 29 against Zane Trace.

Piketon 64, Eastern 43 (Pike County Holiday Tournament)
Host Piketon jumped out to a 26-8 lead after the first quarter and didn’t look back en route to a 64-43 victory over Eastern in the second semifinal of the Pike County girls Holiday Tournament.
Senior Alex Southworth led all scorers with 20 points and also contributed with seven assists and six rebounds for the Redstreaks. Ashley Lawhorn added nine points and six rebounds in the victory.
The Eagles were led by freshman Madison Knipp with 11.
Piketon returns to SVC action Thursday at Unioto.
