Nearly $3.3 million in improvements will be made in Wayne National Forest. Contracts were approved to complete four projects that range from the replacement of bridges to the replacement of a road.
D.J. Group Inc. of Beverly, Ohio, was awarded a contract for $745,435 to replace six steel bridges. The bridges run through various trails throughout the forest and three counties Scioto, Lawrence and Hocking. Each of the bridges will range from 30 to 40 feet in length. The work is expected to be completed by the fall of 2012.
The Bluegrass Contracting Corporation was awarded a contract for $985,430 to replace Lawrence County Road 29 bridge. The existing bridge will be replaced with a single span steel bridge. The existing bridge was damaged beyond repair in 2010. Work is expected to be completed during the summer of 2012.
HCC and DCI JV were awarded a contract for $524,574 to complete work on the Iron Ridge Campground. Because of the ongoing work the campgrounds will not reopen until 2013.
HCC and DCI JV were also awarded a contract for $959,972 to repair damage that was left from a landslide on Vesuvius Beach Road in the Lake Vesuvius Recreation Area. Work is expected to include road restoration and the erection of a retaining wall. Work is expected to be completed in the spring of 2012.
