Santa Claus will make one of his last stops before his big night today at 11 a.m. at Spartan Municipal Stadium in Portsmouth.
Mike Pistole of LIFE Ambulance will fly Santa in by helicopter and Bill Cole of Bikers For Charity will escort him into the stadium where he will talk with boys and girls and hand out toys to each one.
The event is co-sponsored by Bikers For Charity and the Portsmouth Fire Department.
"This is what we do with the remainder of the money that we haven't used from the bell-ringing part of it," Cole said. "We rang the bells the day after Thanksgiving and last Saturday (Dec. 13)."
During the two days of bell-ringing the bikers collected $26,838 to provide for area children who might not otherwise have a Christmas.
Cole said the money is what is left after what was spent on Angel Trees and purchasing of coats and toys for area children.
"There will be cookies and hot chocolate," Cole said. "They will have to be accompanied by a parent or another adult. We don't want people coming down there and just dropping their kids off."
