Motorists are leery of driving in bad weather. That's evident by the number of them that log onto the Ohio Department of Transportation's Web site for the latest road conditions.
During last year's winter driving season, the site received more than 117 million hits.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol urges motorists to make safety their first priority while driving in bad weather.
"A good way to start is to remind themselves of six words: 'Ice and snow, take it slow,'" said Lt. Tony Bradshaw, with the patrol's headquarters in Columbus.
The patrol offers the following steps to assist motorists with winter driving:
