Ronald L. Pennington, 68, of New Boston, died Monday, Nov. 10, 2008, at SOMC Hospice Center.

He was born Dec. 5, 1939, a son of the late A.M. Pennington and Nannie Rice Pennington. He was a member of Unity Fellowship Church, served in the military for three years in the Army and seven years in the Air Force. He was a licensed funeral director, had worked as a salesman for Oberlings, and was presently employed at D.W. Swick Funeral Homes.

He is survived by two daughters, Michelle Wallace and husband Gary and Melissa Dahlheimer and husband Jamie, all of Bethel, Ohio; five grandchildren, Hannah Wallace, Morgan Dahlheimer, Hunter Wallace, Jacob Dahlheimer and Caleb Dahlheimer; one sister, Mary Francis Stafford and husband Paul of Marion, Ind.; sister-in-law, Virginia Pennington of Chillicothe; his former wife, Penny Sowards Arthur; special friend, Pat Horton; along with several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by six brothers, Donald, Jim, A.M. Jr., William, Roy and Jack Pennington; and a sister, Celia Stoner.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Unity Fellowship Church in New Boston, with Pastor Jack Howard officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Burial Park, with military graveside rites by James Dickey Post 23 American Legion. Visitation will be Thursday 6 to 9 p.m. at D.W. Swick Funeral Home in New Boston and Friday 9 to 10 a.m. at the church.
