He was born June 28, 1941, in Jackson County, to Margaret Snyder French and the late Frank French. Wendell was a strong steelworker and a union representative at Plibrico.
He is survived by his loving wife, Betty French of Oak Hill; children, Wendell French Jr., Lois (Randy) Rouse, Mellissa, and Randy (Tiffany) French; stepchildren, Sammy Canter and Crystal (Jim) Casey; brothers, Roger (Nancy) French and Mike (Rose) French; sister, Yolande (Arnold) Hilderbrant; and special friend, Betty Davis French. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by a son, Kevin French.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 3, 2008. at the Kuhner-Lewis Funeral Home in Oak Hill, with the Rev. Stan Howard officiating. Burial will follow in Monroe Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday, Nov. 2, 2008, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
