The Scioto County Sheriff's Office announced on Sunday they are investigating the shooting death of a South Webster man.
According to the sheriff's office, deputies and an EMS Squad responded to 911 call in the 16,000 block of Ohio 140, near the Scioto-Jackson county line at 4:04 a.m. Sunday morning. The caller told police that a man had been shot with a handgun after a resident caught him on his property, reportedly attempting to enter a vehicle.
Upon arrival, the Scioto County Coroners Office pronounced Timothy Reese, 21, of South Webster, dead at the scene. His body will be sent to the Hamilton County Morgue for autopsy, the sheriff's department said, adding that detectives believe this was a case of self-defense.
The name of the shooter was not released, and no charges have been reported. Detectives working the case were unavailable for further comment on Sunday.
The case remains under investigation and the sheriff's office said all evidence will be presented to the Scioto County Grand Jury. Scioto County Sheriff Marty V.
