The Berlin Hiland Hawks, the top seed in one of the East brackets, had no trouble with he Wheelersburg Pirates, the top seed in one of the Southeast District brackets, as they eliminated Wheelersburg 5-0 in a Division III Southeast District Championship.
“It was a tough game,” Pirates coach Paul Boll said. “… Our seniors played a great game.”
Last season, Hiland (13-4) eliminated Wheelersburg (14-3-1) 7-0 in a Division III Regional Semifinal. Saturday’s win is the seventh-straight district title for the Hawks.
Luke Burch had two goals whil Grant Stutzman had a goal an assist in the victory. Alex Dalton recoreded 18 saves in the loss.
The Pirates will lose Jamie Crowder, Kollin Hiles, Braxton Jarvis, Seth Jordan, Hunter Killingsworth, Aaron Martin, Justin Sharp and Tyler Sowards to graduation.
