Pride: (1) A sense of one's own proper dignity or value; self-respect. 2. Pleasure or satisfaction taken in an achievement, a possession, or an association.
That's the way the American Heritage College Dictionary defines the word we all should use in describing Scioto County and its environs.
We should all take pride in what we do and in our communities. We sometimes forget that in the everyday business of making a living and taking our relationships and accomplishments for granted.
That's why we all should take time to appreciate this place we call home and recognize what a jewel it really is.
And that's true about the people living here, our families, neighbors and employers.
We invite you to celebrate our communities in print and photos in Scioto County Pride, a special section to the Portsmouth Daily Times will print on Oct. 17.
Send us the stories and photos of the people, places and things that make Scioto County what it is today. Tell us about your accomplishments, what you enjoy most and what's been happening in your businesses and services. That includes both the private and pubic segments of our county.
Deadline for submissions is Oct. 6. E-mail submissions should be sent to news@portsmouth-dailytimes.com.
