Stanley L. Corbin, 83, of Waverly, died Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2008, at Chillicothe V A Medical Center following a short illness.

The Ironton native was the son of Oliver "Pete" and Mary Corbin, both deceased. His loving wife of 57 years, Genevieve Kimble Corbin, and a brother, Edward, also preceded him in death. He resided in the Waverly/Piketon area and enjoyed spending winters at his home in Tavares, Florida.

He graduated from Kitts Hill High School, class of 1943, proudly served in the U.S. Navy, and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Waverly.

He will be sadly missed by his loving son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Denise Corbin of Waverly, and one granddaughter, Amber, of Columbus. Survivors include two sisters, Phyllis (John) Shafer of Ironton and Nannie Com-stock of Chesapeake; two sisters-in-law, Catherine (Ed) Chatfield of Ironton and Linda (Charles) Fisher of Grove City; one brother-in-law, Art (Pat) Kimble of Loveland, Colo. He will be deeply missed, but not forgotten, by his nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Stan was the former owner of Stan's Used Cars in Waverly and was an automobile enthusiast. He was a charter member of the Iron City Antique Auto Club. He had a zest for life and enjoyed visiting and talking with his family and many friends. He was active in Lake Francis Estates activities and especially enjoy-ed playing shuffleboard and cards with his friends in Tavares. He was a 50-year member and past master of Orient Masonic Lodge 321; past worthy patron of Order of Eastern Star, Waverly, Chapter 99; and a member of Aladdin Shrine.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at the Botkin Funeral Home in Waverly, with Pastor Dale Reed and Rev. Dan Evory officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Union Cemetery in Waverly. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and after 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. There will be a Masonic service at the funeral home at 7 p.m. Thursday.
