Eight-year-old remains identified

A report from a DNA lab on remains found in Greenup County, Ky., finally has brought closure to a Boyd County, Ky., family.

In July 1999, Delbert Allen Dillow, of Boyd County, a native of Greenup County, who was 53 at the time, went missing and for all intents and purposes, dropped off the face of the earth.

Now a year after his skeletal remains were discovered, he has been identified, so his family can have a funeral and put his body to rest nearly a decade after he disappeared.

"On Sept. 28 of 2007, I received a phone call from the Kentucky State Police that some construction workers had found skeletal remains in the Happy Ridge area of Greenup County," said Greenup County Coroner Neil Wright. "Upon examination, they were correct. The Kentucky forensic pathologist was called in from Frankfort the next day
