He was born July 13, 1920, in West Virginia, a son of the late Aaron P. and Agnes Hoffer. He was a retired lineman at G.T.E. and was a WWII Army veteran.
He is survived by a son, Kenneth (Kenny) Hoffer of Lucasville.; two granddaughters, Sonya Osborne and Brittany Hoffer, both of Piketon; one brother, Bob Hoffer of West Portsmouth; and many friends.
Russell was also preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Mable (Charlie) Hoffer; a son, Mike Green; two brothers, Gene and Bill Hoffer; and a half sister, Eva Gilland.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008, at D.W. Swick Funeral Home in New Boston with cremation to follow.
