The first drag racer to receive national television exposure on ABC's Wide World of Sports, NHRA Hall of Fame driver and Portsmouth area local Gorden Collett was at The Glockner GM Superstore on Saturday, at its annual summer cruise-in to raise money for the Glockner Christmas Kids charity fund.

Nearly 300 classic cars participated in the event. In 2007, the event raised more than $4,000 for the charity. The fund was able to buy gifts for 50 children, as well as Christmas dinner for four families as a result of last years event.

There were many prizes given away at the cruise-in, which included a $1,000 Glockner gift certificate, two $500 JEGS gift certificates and a 1981 Classic Monte Carlo.

"This is a great opportunity for the Glockner family of businesses to come together along with members of our community to raise money for this worthwhile cause," said President and CEO of Glockner Enterprises Andy Glockner.
