"The Single Parents Fair is Christ Community Church's way of reaching out to probably some of the most neediest people in our community," Rick Clark, Christ Community Spokesperson said.
The church puts on the Single Parents' Fair because they are trying to be the meaning of the scripture that says, pure religion is taking care of the fatherless and the widows and their affliction.
There were a large number of single parents that came out to take advantage of the many services that were offered during the day. Those services provided included over 1,000 hot dogs served through out the day. as well as over 150 oil changes.
A large number of people also took advantage of free dental cleanings from Dr. Tracy Murray. There were over 460 packets of school supplies given out to students.
Other services that were offered included free haircuts, bicycle repairs, medical screenings, childhood immunizations, makeovers for moms, legal advice and a number of other activities for the kids.
"There were 15 oil change stations and while that's being done there is a variety of other things inside the church they can do," Clark noted.
Each bag of school supplies given away that day has an estimated value of $20.
"When we first started we had about 100 single parents attend the event. Now we have somewhere between 150-200 single parents attend," Clark noted.
