Ashley Bailey, 27, was arrested Thursday, on the lot of Dogwood Ridge Driving School.
"That was great investigative work here," said Capt. David Hall of Scioto County Sheriff's Office. "One of our detectives had been investigating some other crimes, and was driving past an area and saw these people sitting on the parking lot."
Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini said the detectives were familiar with the subjects who had been suspects in multiple thefts in Scioto County.
"They were acting suspicious, so the detectives started watching them for a little bit and confronted them," Hall said. "The detective and the township officer arrested them, and they ended up confessing to doing some thefts, and had stolen property from some vehicles in New Boston this past week."
Donini said detectives were able to recover multiple stolen items to include 13 car stereos stolen from the New Boston area several days ago.
Also recovered were stolen lawn mowers and weed-eaters taken from a Wheelersburg business, as well as a go-cart listed as missing from the Ohio 139 area.
Bailey was served 13 warrants for petty theft and placed in Scioto County Jail on $13,000 bond.
Donini said more charges will be presented to Scioto County Common Pleas grand jury for charges that will result in several other subjects being arrested.
Donini said all stolen property from New Boston will be returned to New Boston Police Department so victim's can claim their property.
After an appearance in Portsmouth Municipal Court, Bailey was released on bond.
Donini said anyone with information concerning these thefts should contact Detective Matt Spencer at (740) 351-1099.
