Reader frustrated McKinley Pool still not open

Why is it every summer the McKinley Pool gets opened later and later? There are always problems, reasons, and renovations. Shouldn't this all be dealt with in April and early May, so the pool can open up Memorial Day (like all other area pools.)

Bids for this year's renovations were June 22, and work started on July 5 for a three-week swim! What is wrong with this picture, Portsmouth?

It is the same old song every year, come on lets plan ahead for next year and get the kids to the pool on Memorial Day. So they will have the entire summer to enjoy the pool.
