Margaret was born Feb. 2, 1915, in Portsmouth, a daughter of the late John Henry Allard and Nellie Mae Crawford Allard. She was a 64-year member of the Sciotoville Christian Church, where she taught the Boy's Sunday School Class for 38 years. She was employed at Marting's where she worked in the Boy's Department. She also worked at Bragdon's and was a bookkeeper for Doxol Rural Gas.
She was married Dec. 6, 1938, in Ashland, to Howard Howell, who preceded her in death in January 1986. Surviving are two sons, Kenneth E. Howell and wife Emilie of Waverly, and J. Howard Howell and wife Connie of Peebles; two daughters, Karen Humphrey and husband Paul of Wheelersburg, and Janice Edwards and husband Lonnie of Portsmouth; grandchildren, Brian Howell and wife Tammy, Barry Howell and wife Amanda, Keith Edwards and wife Anna, Matt Edwards and wife Holly, Shawn Howell and wife Heather, Sam Howell, Joey Conley and wife Jessie. Tom Conley and wife Kelly, Shelly Pabst and husband Vernon, and Christi Pearson and husband Mike; and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Deena Conley; brothers Wells, Owen, John, Fred and L.D. Allard; and sisters, Alma Routt, Helen Allard and Avanelle Allen.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, July 11, 2008, at the Swick-Bussa-Chamberlin Funeral Home in Wheelersburg, with Jason Lykins and Jeremy Wasch officiating, with burial at Memorial Burial Park. Friends may call Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. and Friday one hour before the services at the funeral home.
