Two Portsmouth adults have been arrested and are being held in Scioto County Jail following an undercover operation via the Internet by the Scioto County Sheriff's Office, Portsmouth Police Department detectives, Scioto County Prosecutor's Office and Fairborn Police Department.
Arrested Friday were Jeffrey L. Sexton, 39, and Patricia K. Arndt, 31, both of Portsmouth.
According to a report from Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini, an undercover officer posed as a 14-year-old female on the Internet, and was contacted by the couple wanting to meet up with the underage girl and have sexual relations.
The report said the couple sent pornographic images of themselves to the undercover officer, and after several contacts via the Internet and by phone, they were scheduled to meet at an undisclosed Portsmouth location.
According to the report, the meeting was set for Friday. When the couple arrived, they were taken into custody, resulting in a search warrant at their residence at 1304 Waller St.
Both have been charged with one count of importuning, a fifth-degree felony, and one count of pandering sexually oriented material to a juvenile, a fourth-degree felony. Both will appear in Portsmouth Municipal Court at 9 a.m. Monday, according to the report.
Donini said more charges will be presented to a Scioto County grand jury at a later date.
Anyone with information about this case can contact the Scioto County Sheriff's Office at (740) 354-7566. Donini said all calls will remain anonymous.
