I would like to thank Portsmouth City Councilman Jerrold Albrecht for getting the bridge repaired at Mound Park.

It has been an issue that has concerned me for weeks.

The bridge was missing several planks, which led to a dangerous 4-foot drop.

It was scary to think this was an accident waiting to happen. I had made several attempts to find out who may be responsible for the maintenance of the park when I ended up speaking with Albrecht. He said the park actually was not in his ward, but he would take action and get it repaired for us. He did exactly that, and we are thankful.

It's just sad it took so long to get this repair made. I had people tell me the bridge had been broken well more than a year. Mound Park truly is a treasure within the city and needs to remain that way.

Now that the safety hazard has been addressed, I have been asked by parents and kids who frequent the park to see what can be done about the graffitti and trash.

I would like to initiate a clean-up day at the park. If anyone knows who I should contact, please e-mail me at sherilynnanderson@yahoo.com. Once again, thank you, Mr. Albrecht, for keeping our children safe!
