MCDERMOTT - The weather was perfect, the ball field was beautiful, and the crowd was fully behind their respective teams. It had the perfect ingredients for a great ball game.

But unfortunately for Minford, the Falcons just couldn't adjust to Adena's tight defense. Minford tried everything it could to get around Adena, but the Warriors proved to be too aggressive and overpowering, sealing a 7-1 victory and a district championship.

Adena's hitting was calculated and accurate, and Minford just couldn't get around this barrier. Within the first few innings, it was clear that Minford was struggling against its competitor, and Falcon head coach Tim Martin knew that they couldn't play this way if they wanted to win.

"We had a few errors that cost us and I don't think we played the best today, but overall, the kids had a good season," said Martin.

This loss aside, the Minford Falcons certainly did well for themselves this year, finishing with more than 20 wins and another spot in the district final.

The loss ends the season at 23-6 for Minford. Adena moves on to the Division III Regional Tournament at V.A. Memorial Stadium in Chillicothe on Thursday, where the Warriors will take on another group of Warriors, this one from Eastern Brown.

Game time is 11 a.m.
