Dorothy Carter, 82, of Sciotoville, died Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at Best Care Nursing Home in Wheelersburg.

She was born Sept. 21, 1925, in Portsmouth, to Ralph and Faye Gilpin.

She is survived by one son, Kenny Carter of Sciotoville; two sisters, Mary Lou Lake of Wheelersburg and JoAnn Smith of Wheelersburg; three grandchildren, Matthew (Kelly) Carter of Erlanger, Ky., Christina (Jasin) Carter of Independence, Ky., Rhonda (Andy) Sabelhaus of Florence, Ky.; and two great-grandchildren, Jacob Stewart and Kelsey Sabelhaus.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Carter; and a son, Donald Carter Jr.

Dorothy loved to play Bingo and Canasta. She was also an avid supporter of the East High School Band in Sciotoville.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 17, 2008, at the Wolfe-Nelson Funeral Home in Sciotoville. Interment will follow at Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 7 pm. and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
