Hazel Charlotte Carpenter, 96, of Lucasville, died Thursday, May 1, 2008, at Pleasant Hill Manor in Piketon.

Hazel was born April 21, 1912, in Greenup, Ky., to the late Locker and Mahalo Applegate Smith. Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, William Nelson Carpenter; one son, Bill Carpenter; and two daughters, Betty Bailey and Beuana Carpenter.

Hazel is survived by one son, Lovell "Sonny" (June) Carpenter of Chillicothe; three daughters, Mable (Cecil) Catherine Risner of Lucasville, Bonnie (Chuck) Gustafson of Cleveland, and Armanetta "Sally" (George) Eichenlaub of Rosemount; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; and many stepgrandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, May 4, 2008, at Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth, with the Rev. Bob Davis officiating, and interment in McKendree Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, and one hour before the services on Sunday.
