She was born in Ludlow, Ky., Nov. 24, 1914, to the late Julius and Ella Apple Kress. She taught English and foreign language for 37 years in Blackfork and South Webster high schools and was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church. She graduated from Oak High School in 1932, and The Ohio State University in 1937.
She is survived by daughter, Ellen "Frankie," and son-in-law, William E. Dodson, of Minford; two grandsons, Andrew (Stacy) Dodson of Wheelersburg, and Daniel Dodson of Columbus; great-grandsons, Isaiah and Braden; and many friends, including Sunshine and Simon, who will miss her and celebrate her memory.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother and sister; and husband, Carl F. Queen, in 1967.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, April 27, 2008, at Kuhner-Lewis Funeral Home in Oak Hill, with Pastor Linda Plummer officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery. Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 26, 2008, and one hour before the service at the funeral home.
