It might have taken a little longer than Minford expected, but the team's first win was just as sweet.
Alysha Lyons struck out seven and went 3-for-3 at the plate as the Lady Falcons won their first game of the season 12-6 against Oak Hill at home on Monday.
Courtney Spriggs and Charity Moore both went 3-for-4 to pace Minford's offense as the team pounded out 13 hits. Minford now stands at 1-12 on the season.
"We played good defense and played with a lot more intensity," Minford coach Don Bennett said. "Alysha went down in the third game of the season and didn't come back until last week. This is her second game back and she's getting stronger every day. If we eliminate some of the little mistakes we've been doing, we'll be alright."

Wheelersburg 13, South Webster 0
Wheelersburg continued its dominance at the plate, mercy-ruling South Webster Monday afternoon. Wes Lyon went 2-for-3 with a double and a long ball while driving in three runs. Andrew Elliott helped his own cause going 2-for-2 including a home run.
"I'm glad we continuing to take good swings at the plate," said Wheelersburg coach Michael Estep. "Cook and Elliott only allowed two hits and no walks. We played errorless and hopefully we can carry that into a big game tomorrow (Tuesday) at Waverly."
