We like the idea of a debate. But we agree with others who have said any significant changes to the election process should come after the Nov. 4 presidential election.
Mailing the ballot would eliminate the need to get to the polls. For many, transportation on Election Day is an issue. For others, just finding the time to vote is an issue. Already hectic schedules offer many an easy excuse for skipping this very important civic duty.
Mailing in ballots also would address the need for more poll workers - there aren't enough - and eliminate the fight over which voting machines to use and the cost involved in switching to something new.
No matter what voting method is used, there will be issues of security, convenience and timeliness.
